1/2 cup shortening (or
margerine) |

1-2/3 cups granulated
sugar |

2 teaspoons vanilla |

2 1-oz. squares unsweetened
chocolate, melted |

2 cups enriched flour |

2 teaspoons baking powder |

1/2 teaspoon salt |

1/3 cup milk |
 |
 |
 |
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) |

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs,
vanilla, the dry ingredients and milk. Stir in melted chocolate
and nuts. (Personal favorite nut choice is pecans.)
Put in refrigerator and chill for 2 or 3 hours. Form into 1-inch
balls. Roll in powdered sugar.
Bake at 350°F, about 15 minutes.
Makes 60 cookies.
