Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening (or margerine)
1-2/3 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
2 1-oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 cups enriched flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, the dry ingredients and milk. Stir in melted chocolate and nuts. (Personal favorite nut choice is pecans.)

Put in refrigerator and chill for 2 or 3 hours. Form into 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar.

Bake at 350°F, about 15 minutes.


Makes 60 cookies.
